About the Dondero PTA
The PTA Mission
- To support and speak on behalf of our children
- To encourage community involvement
- To promote a healthy school environment
PTA meetings are held monthly every first Thursday of the month from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM, and all parents and staff are welcome to attend. We have childcare available in the cafeteria. We will also provide transportation, if needed. You can obtain transportation by calling a PTA board member.
Our meetings include detailed information from the school principal, Jill LeMay. You will receive up-to-date information from the president and treasurer about current and future programs that we have been working on. We post the minutes of the meeting on our PTA board located in the entrance to the school. We also send home an agenda prior to each meeting detailing what will be discussed. The PTA is committed to providing funds each year to the classroom teachers to purchase supplies and to fund transportation costs for class field trips. Other activities funded by the PTA include special programs and purchasing equipment. Each PTA committee (except fundraising) is budgeted from funds for their event or project.
Dondero families are encouraged to make their interests or concerns known. We advise you to contact a board member or leave a written note in the PTA mailbox located in the front office of the Dondero website, www.cityofportsmouth.com. The PTA annually hosts fundraisers throughout the year. We encourage all parents and family members to join the PTA family. Schools with strong parent involvement programs experience profound benefits for students, parents, teachers and administrators. Research shows that when parents are involved with their children's education, those students have better grades and test scores along with better attendance. The PTA has the power to inspire change and make a difference for our children.
