Library volunteers assist the librarian in the morning with some of her duties, including checking in and filing returned books and helping children check out new book selections. It's a great way to stay current in children's literature. During certain times of the year, volunteers help the school nurse in different capacities, ranging from help with annual vision and hearing tests, to height and weight measurements. There are many volunteering opportunities with Dondero Soccer, Basketball, and Track teams. Please ask Heidi Sat, the physical education teacher for further information.

This group of parents assists in the implementation of the Learn to Read by Reading model at Dondero and maintains the leveled book collections.

The Donderific Newsletter is a twice-yearly publication distributed with the Wednesday Packets. A volunteer gathers information and puts it into a newsletter format that includes both school and PTA news.

Packets for information on various announcements are put together each Wednesday at 9 AM by a group of five or six volunteers. (Any information intended for the packets must first be reviewed by Jill LeMay and be ready to copy by Monday afternoon.) After the packets have been assembled, they are distributed to each class and sent home with the students. This volunteering opportunity is very flexible, especially now that we have gone green, allowing volunteering once a month or more, if desired. Younger siblings are welcome.

The PTA Safety Committee is comprised of a small group of concerned parents regarding safety and welfare of your children. Anything that may result in a problem for the children is a concern for the Safety Committee. Two representatives meet with the principal and teachers on the Safety Committee every other month.

The T&L (Teaching & Learning) Team is a teaching and learning team which develops school policies and procedures. It is comprised of teachers, staff, administrators and two parents. Meetings are held monthly, and each member is expected to serve on action teams or committees as needed. Parent vacancies are announced in the spring for the following year.

This committee has been recently re-introduced to informally welcome new parents into the Dondero community. The committee's goal is to introduce and familiarize these parents to the ins and outs of our school and the Portsmouth community. Several events sponsored by the Welcome Committee include: Welcome Back to School Picnic, Kindergarten Play Date, Pasta Dinner, Ice Cream Smorgasbord, and Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.

The Yearbook committee is made up of parent volunteers who meet throughout the school year and organize the picture taking, layout, and compilation of the school yearbook. The pages are completed and sent to the company for publishing in March and delivered to the students in June. There are many aspects of the yearbook committee enabling volunteers many opportunities to be involved.

The fundraising committee consists of PTA parents interested in searching out new fundraising ideas and reviewing ideas brought to them prior to being presented to the membership-at-large. The committee also reviews current fundraisers' successes or failures.
