School's out for Summer!

We would like to wish you all a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing you again in the fall.

Please remember to visit the website periodically throughout the summer for any updates about next year. We had a great year and hope next year is even better.

Happy Summer!
Please join us in wishing the very best to our teachers and specialists who will not be returning next year.

Retiring are Dot Bickford, Jan McManus, Jacki Hinton, Jane Ansaldo-Church, Karen Cox and Dorie Sterndale. And leaving for pastures new is Mike Anderson.

We know they will all be missed here at Dondero and thank them for their many years of service to our children. (I think I saw somewhere that they have over 200 years teaching exprience between them!!). That is something to be applauded and we know that the teachers who are replacing them will work equally as hard to make our children's lives that much better.
Lawn Fete was a great success despite the rainy weather.

Thank you all for coming out and supporting our school.

Huge thanks go out to Amy Leahy, who coordinated this event, and to her team, Michelle Diep, Jennifer Gifford, Sheri Whitworth, Julie Kyrousis and Kristin Scully. Also to all of the parents and teachers who stayed to help throughout the night. Without all of these people, who volunteered countless hours of time and effort, this awesome community event could not have taken place.
Check out the Student Page each week for a new brainteaser from Eduplace.
Trust me parents, your kids may beat you at it.

PTA President's End of Year Letter

Time to Wrap Up!

The last few weeks of the school year always seem the busiest with wrapping up the end of the year, camps and field trips, celebrations, fundraisers, summer planning, even planning for the next school year, and of course, tearful good-byes to cherished friends, students and teachers who will not be returning in the Fall all of whom we will greatly miss. All of this, sprinkled with some controversy makes for a very busy June!

Despite the frantic rush for summer, it is also time to start thinking about the next school year, the changes we as a community will be undergoing and whether you, as a member of our community, want to contribute towards making a difference and become involved. I challenge you to become involved in the PTA and your child’s school community. Thank you to those who accepted that challenge this year; it was great to see new faces and hands on the scene - you were there time and time again, and you made a huge impact on this school year! The majority of the PTA membership is made up of the familiar faces from years past, some who won’t be returning next year, and some who will (yes, my fingers are crossed). While it is great to see familiar faces and know that there are always those certain people upon whom the PTA can depend, it is also greatly unfair to have to lean on the same people time and time again.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the parents and teachers who provided tremendous support for the PTA this year and without whom the PTA wouldn’t be able to continue. Throughout the year, there were a handful of parents who went above and beyond in their volunteering and hard work to keep the PTA functioning and support our children and our school.

Those people deserve recognition and praise – Please join me in thanking the following parents who have gone above and beyond: Sally Zwick, Tish Campbell, Pauline Lampert, Paul Cleworth, Emy & Chris Adams, Janine Moran, Dyann Romero, Jen Shoer, Marcy Baer, Shannon Harrington, Carol McGinty, Linda Beal, Amy Leahy, Sheri Whitworth, Maureen Donnelly, Tamara Leibowitz, Mary Jackson, Julia Yost, Stacie Toar, Jen Bell, Beth Ricci-Dowd and Mary Ellen Bouchard.

Please consider how you can become involved; there are so many different opportunities to fit all lifestyles; you can contribute by volunteering your time or your talent, your money or your trade; the ways by which you can become involved are endless. By becoming involved in your child’s school community, you are doing your child a great service by helping shape his or her experience during these most impressionable younger years. I would like to encourage everyone to become involved now, and to stay involved, not just coming in and out in times when you disagree with a school policy, a PTA decision or with the manner in which something is handled, but at all times during your child’s enrollment here.

All of us need to become involved to make a difference in our children’s lives, and frankly all of us have not done it yet. Are you willing to meet the challenge?

Thanks for perusing our website, www.donderopta.org, to review all of the possibilities of how you can become involved today.

It has been a pleasure to serve as President of the PTA this year. I hate to say good-bye to my fellow officers who have been tremendous contributors to our community, Vice-President Sally Zwick, Treasurer Tish Campbell and Secretary Pauline Lampert, but I look forward to working alongside a new executive board next school year, Vice-President Paul Cleworth, Treasurer Chris Beal and Secretary Marcy Baer.

Thank you all for all you’ve done in the past, present and future. So long as we all work together as a community, there’s nothing that we can’t accomplish.

See you in August! Christine Casa, PTA President ccasa@nhlawfirm.com
